
Gorontalo province with its capital Gorontalo is a mountainous area. Its mountains stretched from the western end to the eastern are Mt. Tantolomantinan, Mt. Boliohutu, and Mt. Gambuta.
Its capital Gorontalo is located at the easthern end of Lake Limboto at the point where the lake and three riers drain into the sea. This attractive city has wide, tree-lined avenues and some interesting examples of Dutch colonial architecture. The coast to the east of Gorontalo is picturesque and you will find good beaches along the road. The ruins of an old fort can also be seen in the vicinity, over looking lake Limboto.
To reach Gorontalo, there are daily flights from Manado, as well as a rather lengthy bus connection.
